The photo exhibition "Lake Cerknica – The mirror of the world" is on display at the Hotel Rakov Škocjan from 3rd to 11th December 2009.

Notranjska Regional Park publishes tender documentation for public procurement "Print and graphic designing of the book Lake Cerknica".

Notranjska Regional Park got a visit of Dr. Mitja Kaligarič, the monitor of LIFE Nature's projects and mag. Julijana Lebez Lozej from The Ministry of Environment and Spatial planning on 21st October 2009.

In the scope of the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 Intermittent Lake Cerknica, Notranjska Regional Park prepared a didactic game “Food webs on the Lake Cerknica” which can be used by learning about food chains and webs and to help schoolchildren to understand the connections between organisms.

The mobile photo exhibition of the Lake Cerknica and the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 Intermittent Lake Cerknica is momentarily on display in the Department of Biology of Biotechnical faculty in Ljubljana. There will be staying till the end of October.

Notranjska Regional Park prepared a query sheet for people who live in the area of the Park. People were asked about the Park and its work within the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 Intermittent Lake Cerknica. The results of the query sheet will be published on the website till the end of the project.

The 6th issue of The News from Notranjska Regional Park was published in September 2009. The introduction to the last issue of The News in the scope of project LIFE was written by Jasna Zalar from the Department of economy, agriculture and tourism of the Municipality of Cerknica. Articles in The News present another 12 plant species from the area of Lake Cerknica, The legend of the beginning of the Lake Cerknica and also give some information about butterflies.

Notranjska Regional Park prepared some coloring sheets and various exercises with motifs from nature for pre-school children.

Notranjska Regional Park prepared some worksheets for schoolchildren and manuals for teachers on 5 different subjects. With help of worksheets, schoolchildren can learn or consolidate some learning material from the Teaching plan for Elementary schools. Manuals for teachers that are enclosed to the worksheets help teachers to perform the suggested activities. In the scope of suggested research days or workshops, schoolchildren can learn about food chains and webs, meadows, hedges, biodiversity and dinaric region.

Notranjska Regional Park prepared a calendar for school year 2009/10 in the beginning of the school year. There are marked all important days in the school year in the calendar and there is also place to mark your own important things.

The mobile photo exhibition of the Lake Cerknica and the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 Intermittent Lake Cerknica is momentarily on display in the Snežnik castle in Loška dolina.

In August 2009 Notranjska Regional Park started with the pilot renaturation of two streams of the Lake Cerknica, which were regulated in the past. The pilot renaturation of Goriški Brežiček and Tresenec is one of the most important goals within the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 "Intermittent Lake Cerknica".

In the beginning of new school year 2009/10 Notranjska Regional Park prepared some timetables with different motifs from the Park.

The mobile photo exhibition on the intermittent Lake Cerknica and the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 "Intermittent Lake Cerknica" is currently located in ZOO Ljubljana. It will be located there till 24th August 2009. From 25th to 31st August 2009 it will be exhibited by the Kosovel`s home in Sežana.

One of the most important actions in the project LIFE 06/NAT/SI/000069 Intermittent Lake Cerknica is also the renaturation of two watercourses that were regulated in the past to drain the lake. The pilot renaturation within this project will be implemented on Goriški Brežiček and Tresenc, but in the next years also other watercourses of Lake Cerknica are going to be renaturated. The project partner, Inženiring za vode d.o.o. has prepared the project documentation and Notranjska Regional Park has prepared The action plan of renaturation of watercourses of the Lake Cerknica. The renaturation of Goriški Brežiček and Tresenc will start as soon as the water level of the Lake will be low enough.

In August, Notranjska Regional Park begun with nature-friendly mowing of wet meadows of Lake Cerknica. The mowing started in the area of upper lake, in the vicinity of Gorenje Jezero.

Notranjska Regional Park organized third research camp within the project LIFE 06/NAT/SLO/000069 Intermittent Cerknica Lake. The camp took place between 3rd and 12th July 2009 in Rakov Škocjan. The participants came from Cerknica, Begunje, Stari trg, Bloke, Ljubljana, Izola, Celje and also from Čabar (Croatia) and were aged between 14 and 17 years.

The 5th issue of The News from Notranjska Regional Park was published in June 2009. There are presented some plants that grow in the area of intermittent Lake Cerknica, the sinkholes in Narte and dragonflies as one of the most significant animal group of the Lake Cerknica. The introduction says about Lake Cerknica as the wetland of international importance.

Notranjska Regional Park is performing a mobile photo exhibition in the scope of the project LIFE06/NAT/SI/000069 "Intermittent Lake Cerknica" about the Lake Cerknica and the project LIFE. There will be presented 84 photos of Lake Cerknica with accompanying texts, describing the project. The main purpose of the project is to suppress three main threats to the nature of Lake Cerknica, which are: interventions in the watercourses for faster outflow of water from Lake Cerknica in the past, the abandonment of mowing and the deficient knowledge of nature and nature conservation at Lake Cerknica.

Notranjska Regional Park is organizing another excursion on Lake Cerknica. The participants of the excursion will observe and recognize some grassland and water birds, which breed on the area of Lake Cerknica.

Notranjska Regional Park and Notranjska section of DOPPS are organizing a lecture of Miha Krofel about the reptiles, who live near Lake Cerknica, on rocks, grasslands and at the edge of forest near Cerknica.

In this year's Summer Notranjska Regional Park is organizing a research camp for the third time in the project LIFE duration. 10-days research camp for pupils aged from 15 to 18 years will be taking place in Rakov Škocjan between 3th and 12th July 2009.

Notranjska Regional Park is organizing excursions on Lake Cerknica again. This year's first excursion is planned on Tuesday, 24th March at 16.30. We will observe water birds on Lake Cerknica with telescope and binoculars.

Notranjska Regional Park and Notranjska section of DOPPS are organizing a lecture of Branko Koren about salt-pans of Sečovlje and above all about many birds, who live and breed there.

Notranjska regional park organizes again monthly excursions on Lake Cerknica on which the participants will observe nature under the guidance of the park biologists.

Between 28th June and 4th July 2008, Notranjska regional park organized second research camp for primary and secondary school pupils within the project LIFE 06 NAT/SLO/000069 Intermittent Cerknica Lake. Participants were aged between 14 and 16 years and were staying in Rakov Škocjan. Field work was taking place in the area of Cerknica lake in five different work groups.
