Irena Likar, head of project LIFE Stržen met with Suzana Levstek, project manager of the newly started project LIFE Amphicon. Notranjski park had very successfully carried out the purchases of private lands needed to achieve the LIFE STržen project’s goals therefore it can share valuable information about the purchases and other challenges within the organization and projects with other executants.
Project LIFE Amphicon will focus on preservation of amphibians and renewal of their life environments. 9 project partners from 3 european countries are taking part in the project. Their main goal is to improve the condition of intactness of amphibians, which is protected by the Directive of habitats in the four Natura 2000 areas in Slovenia (Ljubljansko barje, Radensko polje – Viršnica, Dobrava – Jovsi in Bohor) and the three areas in Denmark and Germany. On the area of Krajinski park Radensko polje they will build underpasses and fences, which will make a safe road passing during migrations for amphibians. They will also arrange learning paths, an outside classroom and position information board, observatories and a watchtower.
