Our story of restoration of Stržen to its original apperance will begin any time now! Today we have checked the situation once again at the spot, where the renaturation of the biggest watercourse of Cerknica lake is going to take place, and we were surprised. The water has strongly decreased.
Just one week ago a path to Ključi looked like this…
… and today it looks like this already.
It is possible to walk from Gorica to Ključi today.
The measuring point at Dolenje jezero shows 199 centimeters. Only six days ago it showed 143 centimeters. But today, it is possible to walk from Gorica to Ključi.
Yellow water-lily on StrženIf there will be no heavy rainfalls in the following days, we will be able to start the renaturation on August 1st day and Stržen will start getting its appearance of more than 80 years ago, before it was redirected into straight channel.
Decreasing water level in lake is fatal for the fish. To rescue them before the works at the river-bed, the local fishermen will catch the fish and the crustaceans to transport them safely to other parts of the lake’s watercourses.
At the time of renaturation works, the river-bed at the spot where we are going to “redesign” it, has to be as dry as possible.
