Established educational trails, neat piers to access the lake and moor boats, bird observatories, special interactive signposts, a brand new tourist information centre, and last but not least, the renaturation of watercourse Stržen.
Notranjska Park team works every day to realize these new achievements. We don’t lack new ideas and plans, but we cannot imagine the future of our natural park without collaboration with the locals. That is why we have started a tour from village to village in the area around Cerknica Lake, in order to discuss our plans with local people, to listen to their ideas and solutions and integrate them in our projects as much as we can.
Our first stop was in the Gorenje Jezero village on January 11th 2019. We realized that we have a very similar vision with locals there. Most of their suggestions were already on the list of our project objectives, on which our team works every day.
Yesterday, January 29th 2019, we met in Cultural centre Cerknica with some of the landowners in the area of Cerknica lake, where new infrastructure will be placed. Again, we realized we speak a common language. Their suggestions:
- to set extra toilets at the end of the educational trail.
- to do something about the problem of raising dust on the road between Dolenje Jezero and Ribiški Kot.
- to solve the problem of parking, particularly when the parking lot by village Dolenje Jezero is full.
- they pointed out that the forest trails that are primarily meant for transporting wood, should not be covered with wooden pieces and that it would be sensible to place some infrastructure for them.
We will continue with this kind of meetings and we are positive that we can make our lake world even more pleasant for visitors, while at the same time protect rare and endangered animal and plant species. We also want to make sure the lives of locals are not disrupted.
See you around!
