At the headquarters of Notranjska Regional Park, the coordinators of the partner institutions of the LIFE Stržen project – representatives of DOPPS, the Fisheries Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Protection – met at the regular coordination meeting. They reviewed the tasks performed so far and drew up a schedule of tasks for the rest of this year and have already looked at 2021.

Of course, they could not ignore this year’s exceptional weather conditions, when so much rain fell in the summer that the terrain in the area where the Stržen watercourse is being renatured was too wet to continue with the work that had been started last year. The resumption of renaturation at Ključi for this year has been unfortunately canceled and postponed to August 2021. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will be more like summer then, which means that Lake Cerknica will dry up. Which will enable the completion of the Stržen restoration intervention and the restoration of the ecosystem as soon as possible.
