The latest issue of the LIFE Stržen`s bulletin Iz tršce offers plenty of interesting reading. Our head of the LIFE project Irena Likar wrote the introduction about the exceptional responsibility we have to preserve the Lake Cerknica. As the heart of biodiversity, one of the world’s key wetlands and a miracle of karst nature, it is important not only for Slovenia, but for the entire planet. More and more people are travelling to see it, tourism initiatives are growing like mushrooms after the rain, but it is necessary to find an appropriate balance between nature conservation and tourism. This is what the Notranjska Park is trying to do in the best possible way, also by the help of the LIFE project.
The bulletin also contains the locals` comments on our new walking trails in the park and our past six months` work and activities introduction. The bulletins also offers our answers and explanations to the most frequently expressed doubts and misunderstandings of some of our activities. In the Interview section, we talk to the extremly nice and innovative young women, Janja Mihelčič and Tjaša Dernikovič, who take part as guides of some of our themed weekends, with programmes for families (Hidden Treasure Hunt, The Locked Secret of the Lake). In the middle of bulletin one can find a map of the Drvošec Theme Trail with descriptions of individual points, and on its front and back pages there are a list of rules of conduct in our nature park and a list of this year’s themed weekends. For a treat, a prize crossword puzzle is waiting for you at the end of the bulletin.
