Our last LIFE`s themed weekend was marked by the past and the history of Lake Cerknica, where nature is constantly changing, just as people are changing. On Saturday night, visitors gathered by the fire to listen to stories about this mysterious intermittent lake, mostly about the importance of the typical wooden local boat and about the times of smuggling. The storytelling was accompanied by soothing music, and the visitors were refreshed with delicious home-made snacks.
On Sunday, the participants of the LIFE`s themed activity were taken, by the local guide Janja Urbiha, to Lake Cerknica and got acquainted with the life as it once was by the inhabitants of the lake, dominated by grazing, farming, transporting livestock across the lake with traditional wooden boats, and fishing. Today’s activity ended at the Kebe family Museum in Dolenje Jezero, where a wool felting workshop took place. At the end, each participant received gifts – felted soaps.
The guide of themed activities is financed by the LIFE Stržen project, so it is free of charge for the participants.
