The video below shows how the constructing workers of the Nivo Eko company have removed the very last barrier and “opened free” the big meander of Stržen watercourse, which is now exactly as it had been in this place more than one hundred years ago.
On the left of the video shooting you can see the freshly dug up natural Stržen watercourse’s meander, and on the right its former, artificially made and straightened watercourse can be visible. At the same time the area amongst both of the watercourses is being filled up, thus building a passage to the lands on the other side of Stržen’s watercourse. The watercourse, made into straight channel by the farmers who had tried to dry out the lake and obtain more land for agricultural use, is going to be filled up. Before, the fishermen will arrive on site to remove carefully and professionally the fish and the crabs which live in the waterbed. The saving of water animals and the filling up of the old artificial waterbed will be up next year. This year we can not accomplish it anymore, because the rainy season is here and the terrain will be much too wet and the water level much too high for constructing works with heavy machinery.
