The last summer weekend has passed by – both, according to the calendar (tomorrow, September 22, is the first day of autumn, beginning with the autumn equinox) and according to the weather forecast. Our park was full of visitors who were relaxing and making different sports – walking , running, cycling, rowing, flying, the bravest were even swimming in the lake.
Visitors could also choose between two LIFE activities this weekend. Participants in Saturday’s activity went on a trip along one of our medium-length (19 km) well-maintained bike paths, named after a typical inhabitant of Lake Cerknica – ŠČUKA (pike). They were cycling around the lake and admired the views from the view points. We organized this cycling due to the European Mobility Week. To encourage visitors to cycle, we offered them free rental of bicycles, ordinary or electric.
On Sunday, the visitors to our activity, for which the places were filled in less than two days, learned how to be inventive when you get lost in the wilderness, without a cell phone signal and without any overnight equipment. The master of survival Laris Žurga gave them answers and skills with practical demonstrations and advice, after they got intentionally got lost in the forest by Lake Cerknica, which is slowly gaining its autumn appearance.
The LIFE Stržen project enables us to run thematic activities free of charge.
