This morning, we were accompanied by a film crew, led by TV and film director Aleš Žemlja. The main character in front of the camera was (besides the beautiful scenery of Lake Cerknica) Anže Škoberne, the leader of the Notranjska section of the DOPPS bird-watching organization.
It was the final recording day of the second video that is part of our LIFE Stržen project. The first one was published at the end of last year, and had a darker, more melancholic theme, as we focused on wild garbage dumps around the Lake Cerknica area. The videohas earned a lot of attention – we even got a call from the municipality, which resulted in our representatives along with the municipality, public services and environmental inspectorate’s representatives forming a special group to tackle this problem.
1st LIFE Stržen Project film: Dark side of Lake Cerknica
Let’s go back to today’s video in the making. The film crew had already been recording at the lake in the spring and in the summer of this year, as there are many different bird species to see for each season.
Today, in the idyllic place called Zadnji kraj, the crew filmed Anže Škoberne, an extraordinary expert on bird species, especially for the Lake Cerknica area. As a local, he became interested in different species of birds when he was 12. In the video, Škoberne observes birds with binoculars and talks about them. He is stressing the fact that more than half of all European bird species are present here on Lake Cerknica. He also talks about the significance of preserving their habitats and about his curiosity for them.
Another thing that will contribute to the preserved variety of species here on Lake Cerknica will be our infrastructure, currently being constructed around the filming location, as it will direct the park visitors to well-arranged walking and cycling trails, away from the sensitive areas, where birds and other animals require an undisturbed habitat.
The video about the lake’s bird species will be published in December 2019, on every possible medium – on the Notranjska Regional Park’s website, on our YouTube Channel, on Facebook and Instagram. It will be available for everybody to view and use. The lake is our common jewel, and it will be available for all who wish to view and share it. Nonetheless, it also works as a promotional video of these unbelievably beautiful places.
Because December is still far away, we are giving you a taste of the video:
