Last themed weekend was varied and extremely interesting for the participants, again. On Saturday, the visitors experienced a magical walk along the Path of Springs, along which you can see many natural springs which come out from underground holes, caves and abysses, and fill up Lake Cerknica. Currently, due to a very long period of drought, the springs are now mostly dry, but now a beholder can see even more visibly the holes from which the water usually comes out in all its power and glory. The guided stroll was finished by pleasant mingling, accompanied by local food tasting offered at the farm T’Dolenj from Laze near Gorenje Jezero, known for its excellent fruit products (juices, jams, liqueurs, vinegar).
Sunday was a time for artistic creations. The young visitors and their parents were taken by a local hay cart with horses by Frenk, the coachman, from the Levar Open Door Farm to the Klejni vrh nature observatory, where they learned the process of illustrating animals with a pencil in an outdoor classroom with nature conservationists, professional animal experts and excellent cartoonists Živo Hanc and Petra Muhič. They drew local beasts – bear, fox, badger, wolf and, if desired, other animals as well. While their children were drawing, the parents took a walk along part of the Drvošec educational trail and enjoyed the view of the currently empty Cerknica Lake in peace.
All guided tours of themed weekends are free of charge for participants, as it is funded by the LIFE Stržen project.
